Zones of Autonomy
2024. Jesmonite, Felt. 46 x 23 x 5 cm
Homelessness is an unseen crisis. Vulnerable rough sleepers are exposed yet simultaneously invisible, while thousands more are ‘hidden’ in temporary accommodation. Living in a city one often faces the poignancy of empty sleeping bags in shop doorways or beds of cardboard under bridges. This piece attempts to evoke this sense of absence and forms part of my recent submission to the upcoming ‘Shelter Housing Emergency Exhibition and Campaigning Event’.
